Supporting High-Risk Pregnancies... at Home

Being diagnosed with a high-risk pregnancy is stressful. Fortunately, you are not alone. Every year more than 800,000 women receive this news, and we help these pregnancies result in healthy, happy babies. The medical professionals at Healthy Connections Home Care Services have been caring for high-risk pregnant mothers for more than 11 years. Healthy Connections is owned and operated by highly-trained obstetric nurses whose focus is to collaborate with your OB/GYN to provide you with exceptional medical care in the comfort of your own home. We encourage you to learn more about the benefits of home care so you can turn those initial feelings of fear and uncertainty into stories with very happy endings.

What is Healthy Connections?

Healthy Connections provides quality high-risk obstetrical care delivered by specialized nurses for management of pre-term labor, hyperemesis gravidarum (excessive nausea and vomiting in pregnancy), pregnancy-induced hypertension, gestational diabetes management and compliance coaching and education. In addition to home visits, our 24/7 Call Center means that our highly trained OB/GYN nurses are only a phone call away when a patient or family member has a question or concern. Our Call Center and web-based charting system also enables us to collaborate closely with physicians in carrying out their care orders and in monitoring and managing each home care patient. Not only does care in familiar surroundings improve patient well-being, it also provides a more cost effective solution for families and healthcare providers.

How We Help

At Healthy Connections Home Care Services, we believe that home care is more advantageous than hospitalization for well-selected pregnant patients. Healthy Connections takes direction from the patient's obstetrician in providing a personal and customized level of health services delivered in the patient's home and supported through our Call Center staffed by skilled OB/GYN nurses. The patient plays an integral role in this relationship by being receptive to our educational efforts and remaining in regular contact with our Call Center staff.

Committed to Our Community

Healthy Connections has increasingly served as a catalyst for dialogue across the Texas OB/GYN community, sponsoring lectures on important clinical issues and offering a forum for prominent speakers, such as leaders of the Texas Medical Association and prominent healthcare organizations. We are honored to host such highly regarded experts in advancing conversations in the OB/GYN community that impact patient care.

Physician FAQs

Can I customize the care that is provided to my patient(s)?

To answer in one word, YES. The patients who are typically referred to us do not reflect the majority of pregnant patient population. Therefore, we are very much aware of the need for customizing care to fit the patient in question. We must perform services for which we can seek reimbursement from the patient’s insurance company, as well as performing only those services that do not place the patient, physician, or unborn child at undue risk for serious adverse outcome. This is why patients for home care services need to be carefully selected and screened.

For physicians who typically order several of our services on a regular basis, please ask us to customize these orders to fit your patient population’s needs.

What if I am not sure of the dosing on the various sub-cutaneous pumps for Metoclopramide/Ondansetron?

We expect that many of our physician clients may not remember the dosing of medications that we provide. Therefore, the orders that we send will have typical dosing ranges for the therapies we provide. In addition, we have a pharmacist and board-certified OB/GYN on our staff, who are happy to speak with you regarding dosing for your patient based upon their individual condition.

How often will Healthy Connections’ nurses call me or my office?

Healthy Connections' goal is to provide care to the patient based upon a “best practices” philosophy as well as predicated on the physician’s discretionary orders. Therefore, we will make every effort to use discretion in calling a physician. However, if patients require evaluation on labor & delivery (based upon our home care guidelines) or an order change is necessary to provide patients with better care, we will contact you/your office in the least disruptive way possible.

How does using home care services benefit my office and me?

Healthy Connections’ services decrease the number of phone calls to your office and eliminate the need to hospitalize some of your patients. This offers a great benefit to the compliant patient who would rather be at home with her family during this difficult time. The additional benefit is that our services decrease patient calls to your office. Perhaps one of the biggest benefits is the utilization of health care dollars. Home care is far less expensive, both for patients and society, than prolonged hospitalization. In addition, as we come ever closer to economic credentialing of physicians, these services demonstrate the physician’s economic sensitivity and financial prudence.

Are Healthy Connections pumps approved by the FDA?
